DCA What’s Domiciliary Care Allowance – This is one of the NON MEANS TESTED benefits. In that no one is going to look at your household finances to claim this. – rich or poor if your child has special needs then you are entitled to it.

DCA is an Allowance that anyone can apply for if their child has care needs over and above what a usual child of a similar age would have. You don’t need a diagnosis specifically, but if you do have one it helps to put a framework around the supports your child needs. Some children have care needs over and above what a usual child of a similar age would have without a diagnosis and they still qualify.

An assessment and intervention report will determine your child’s diagnosis (if any) and their intervention and on going needs.

The current rates of DCA allowance are €309.50 per month and €1700 euros for respite care or a holiday in the summer, which is the respite grant. You are entitled to if you get DCA. Payable for qualifying children 0 – 16 years. Get the form here so we can help with it
